Completed in December of 2001, Macroism is the first musical offering from saxophonist, composer Raymond Guiser. With eight original compositions, Guiser's lyrical writing and playing style encompasses a broad range of jazz. The very topic specific compositions and supporting cast of some of Florida's finest musicians bring the listener inside the mind of this friendly though sometimes aloof musician, offering a glimpse into his unusual way of looking at the world.

Midnight at the Oasis is a new rendition of the old 1970's tune, originally recorded by  Maria Muldaur. Ray adds a hip-hop flavor to this, interesting, though at first a little
hard to recognize, arrangement.

Yin Warriors, with it's haunting character, is about women of power in our world and their struggle to achive, as he puts it, "a balance of the genders".

Elichti's Chi (pronouced "elickty's chee"), is about Guiser's wife Elizabeth. This punchy, energetic song, with it's unusual use of  big band instrumentation and the Akai EWI
(electric wind instrument), was inspired by her practice of the Chinese martial arts.

In The Know, a straight ahead jazz number envoking a relaxed meditative feeling reminiscent of cool jazz, came into being after his discovery of the virtues of meditation from a most unexpected teacher.

Kachina was inspired by the striking, wooden dolls carved by the Hopi Indians, integrating the mood of American Indian music with contemporary jazz.

The Winning Way, a smooth jazz number, was created from an arrangement Guiser did of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. After almost abandoning the song several times, it finally
fell into place and was named after the quality it took to complete it, perserverance.

Access Highway, a latin jazz composition, was the result of some mental wanderings while stuck in traffic on Washington D.C.'s Dulles Airport access highway.

The Ensouled Ones, a flowing, playful composition, is about the cetacian species(whales and dolphins) and some wonderful  insights he learned concerning their true spiritual nature, and ours.

Macroism, is a word Guiser made up pertaining to things or concepts of a large scale. It also
reflects his desire to maintain an awareness of the, "big picture", that each one
of us is like a drop of water in a immense ocean, but still a part of that ocean.
